The corona virus forced Patrik Odermatt and Philippe Kaiser to give their lecture at the University of St. Gallen digitally. This new format was challenging, but it opened up many new possibilities.

The subject matter could hardly be more topical. The two speakers highlighted the corporate notarial business in the digital age – electronic notarisation, digital currencies, virtual meetings and blockchain technology. As a result of Ordinance 2 on Measures to Combat the Corona Virus, the virtual general meeting, which had previously only been envisaged in the draft for the partial revision of the Code of Obligations, immediately became reality. This also poses new challenges for notaries in the case of resolutions of general meetings that require notarisation.

A big hank you to Prof. Dr. Florian Möslein for inviting us to speak at his lecture in Law and Econimics at the University of St. Gallen.
